The English Institute of Sport (EIS) is the team behind many of Great Britain’s most successful sports. The organisation worked with 93% of the athletes and 31 of the 34 sports that won a medal for Team GB and Paralympics GB at the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Its 250 plus practitioners work in multi-disciplinary teams to provide a holistic service that supports coaches and Performance Directors to improve the performance of their elite athletes by delivering services which enable them to optimise training programmes, maximise performance in competition and improve health and wellbeing.
The EIS country's largest provider of sport science, medicine and technology, the EIS also provides a range of added-value benefits to the sports we work with including world-class performance environments and access to cutting edge innovation and research. The sport science and sport medicine services delivered by the EIS are underpinned by leading-edge technology and engineering. Its areas of expertise include: Sport Medicine, Physiology, Physiotherapy and Soft Tissue Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, Performance Nutrition, Performance Psychology, Performance Analysis. There is also a range of practitioners who work specifically with Paralympic sports.
The Institute of Sport Exercise and Health (ISEH) is the main London site for the EIS and practitioners based at ISEH offer high quality sports medicine, physiotherapy and soft tissue therapy services. Working at the ISEH enables the EIS's practitioners to provide an effective one-stop shop service to athletes in a single visit; enabling them to receive high-quality consultations, scans and treatment, and leave with an agreed plan to manage recovery to return to training/competition.
EIS doctors based at the ISEH are also actively involved in research into issues relevant to elite sportsmen and women, including tendinopathy and stress fractures.
